A newer Semtech radio platform paired with an nRF52840 controller. Its hardware capabilities are worth exploring, but usable features depend on the installed firmware.

Seeed Studio introduced the SenseCAP MeshTracker X1 on July 23, 2026. Its LR2021 radio and dual-band GPS make it an interesting candidate for everyday Meshtastic use and a comparison with the T1000-E.

What is new?
Dual-band GPS
L1 and L5 satellite positioning, alongside a barometer, offers a useful reason to compare location accuracy under trees and around buildings.
Everyday portability
USB-C charging, vibration and buzzer alerts, an IP66 enclosure and a 1100 mAh battery in a card-sized device. Seeed advertises up to five days of runtime; settings and use will affect that.
Why it matters for No Bars Club
A tracker people carry regularly can help with meetups, trail coordination and coverage checks across New Haven County and the Valley. The X1 is most relevant here as a portable client; a permanent outdoor relay still needs its own power, antenna and deployment plan.
What we would test against the T1000-E
- Position accuracy under tree cover and near buildings.
- Successful message delivery along the same route with matched network settings.
- Battery runtime using comparable GPS and Bluetooth settings.
- Charging convenience, carrying comfort and alert usefulness during everyday use.
We would consider a comparison review or evaluation unit worthwhile. These are proposed tests, not completed results or an agreed collaboration.
Read the radio specifications carefully
The LR2021's advertised 2.6 Mbps FLRC capability is not a promise of that speed in Meshtastic. It does not establish current support for voice calls or photo sharing. Seeed's quoted range is also a test result under stated conditions, not a guarantee for local terrain.
