The Brick is a rugged modular LoRa radio platform built around RAK WisBlock hardware. The goal is simple: one tough enclosure platform that can accept multiple internal radio configurations as the project evolves.

The current concept is shown in red and black. Both use the same rugged modular enclosure idea with front and back access, belt clip, external RF connections and USB C service access.

MODULAR BY DESIGN.

The internal chassis is designed around several RAK WisBlock configurations so the enclosure can stay familiar while the electronics change.

The high power configuration adds dedicated ventilation and a larger internal stack.

Important connector note

RAK3312 USES MHF4.

The RAK3312 uses MHF4 antenna connections, not MHF1 or U.FL. Do not assume the antenna pigtails used with a RAK4631 will fit the RAK3312. Use the correct MHF4 compatible coax and pigtail for that board.

The Brick is not trying to disappear into your pocket. It is meant to be a practical carry radio with room for batteries, real connectors, service access and swappable hardware.

Modular electronics chassis

Swap between supported RAK configurations without redesigning the full enclosure.

Carry focused hardware

Removable belt clip, bottom lanyard slot, removable battery access and textured grip surfaces.

Serviceable construction

M3 brass heat set inserts, USB C service access, gasket channel and dedicated ventilation for the 1W module.

Still evolving

THE BRICK IS A LIVING HARDWARE PROJECT.

Prototype testing will continue to shape the enclosure, trays, mounting options, antenna configurations and supported electronics. Dimensions and internal clearances may change as real hardware is tested and revisions are printed.
