OpenMANET is an independent project that uses Wi-Fi HaLow, OpenWrt, 802.11s and BATMAN-V to build a self-forming IP mesh. Instead of focusing on tiny text packets, it can carry normal IP traffic across a long-range mesh.
Meshtastic and MeshCore are LoRa-focused messaging ecosystems. OpenMANET is closer to building a long-range wireless LAN that can route normal IP applications.

OpenMANET uses 802.11ah Wi-Fi HaLow for the RF link and BATMAN-V over 802.11s for dynamic mesh routing.

BATMAN-V continuously evaluates paths so the network can reroute as links or nodes change.
Clients can use ordinary IP networking through local Wi-Fi or Ethernet while HaLow carries traffic between mesh points.
