Reticulum • Beginner path

START SMALL. NO RASPBERRY PI REQUIRED.

You can learn Reticulum before building permanent infrastructure and before adding a LoRa radio.

01

Learn it on a normal network

Start with supported Reticulum software on compatible computers or devices connected through a normal local network. This lets you understand identities, announces and communication without debugging RF at the same time.

02

Add an RNode

When you are ready for LoRa, use supported hardware running RNode firmware and configure an RNode interface in Reticulum. A Raspberry Pi is only one possible host, not a requirement.

03

Expand for a reason

After the smallest setup works, experiment with placement, additional nodes and other interfaces. Build infrastructure around an actual need instead of adding complexity for its own sake.

Basic architecture

A SIMPLE LORA TEST.

Host device running Reticulum → RNode LoRa interface → LoRa → RNode → another Reticulum host

The host could be a compatible laptop or other supported computer. The important part is separating the Reticulum software from the RNode radio interface concept.
