RETICULUM DO'S & DON'TS.

Keep the first experiment simple, legal and easy to troubleshoot.

DO

Build deliberately.

  • Use supported hardware and current official documentation.
  • Attach the correct antenna before transmitting.
  • Use frequencies, bandwidth and transmit power that comply with the rules where you operate.
  • Start with the smallest working network before adding infrastructure.
  • Document settings so other people can reproduce your test.
  • Keep experimental Reticulum equipment clearly identified and separate from Meshtastic and MeshCore assumptions.
  • Learn how Reticulum interfaces and transport behavior work before planning a large deployment.
DON'T

Avoid the easy mistakes.

  • Don't assume a Reticulum RNode can directly talk to Meshtastic or MeshCore just because all use LoRa modulation.
  • Don't copy Meshtastic or MeshCore radio settings and assume they mean the same thing in Reticulum.
  • Don't deploy permanent infrastructure before understanding what role it serves.
  • Don't use extra transmit power as a substitute for good antenna placement and a clean RF installation.
  • Don't describe experimental coverage as established public infrastructure.
  • Don't complicate a working network simply because Reticulum supports many interface types.
