Build process
- Print or prepare the board holder
Use the linked RAK19007/RAK4631 holder or mount the electronics on insulated standoffs.
- Prepare the enclosure
Plan the antenna bulkhead, USB-C pass-through, solar lead and optional magnetic mounting points before drilling.
- Install the radio and RF path
Seat the RAK4631 securely and connect the U.FL/IPEX pigtail to the N-female bulkhead with minimal strain.
- Add power hardware
Install the PCM/power components, connect the solar input and verify battery polarity before powering the radio.
- Weatherproof
Seal the cable entries and RF connector. Keep the USB-C bulkhead gasket properly compressed.
- Deploy
Attach the ALFA antenna vertically, place the panel for good sun exposure and test charging over multiple daylight cycles.
Build notes
- The linked AtlaVox USB-C bulkhead is tagged with the No Bars Club affiliate reference.
- Magnets are convenient on steel surfaces, but use a mechanical backup for exposed or elevated installs.
- Avoid placing the battery where it will sit against a hot enclosure wall in direct sun.
