MESH
MAPPER.

MeshMapper is built around mapping MeshCore coverage by pairing with a companion radio, sending GPS-tagged pings and recording repeaters heard along the way.

Why we're testing it

Coverage maps become much more useful when they come from actual observations. MeshMapper's wardriving-style approach makes it especially relevant to anyone trying to understand where a local MeshCore network really works.

NBC verdict: pending field miles.
We want repeat drives and walks through the same areas before judging accuracy, usability or contribution value.

Test plan

  • Bluetooth reliability while moving
  • Automatic GPS ping behavior
  • Repeater discovery and signal data
  • Battery usage during longer mapping sessions
  • How clearly uploaded coverage reflects what was actually heard

Best hardware match

A portable MeshCore companion radio with stable Bluetooth and a properly matched 915 MHz antenna is the obvious test pairing. Fixed repeaters also matter because those are what the app is trying to discover and document.
